1986 Indianapolis Indy 500 Checkered Flag, Flown in Space, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum Display

Checkered flag waved when Bobby Rahal won the 1986 Indianapolis 500. It was then taken into space above the Challenger. The flag is signed by the astronauts on NASA's 23rd space shuttle mission (STS61-B) including Brewster H. Shaw, Jerry L. Ross, Bryan D. O'Connor, Mary L. Cleave, Sherwood C. Spring, Charles D. Walker and Rodolfo Neri Vela. This museum display comes directly from the Hulman-George estate. A truly one of a kind piece that is for the serious collector. This piece has a COA signed by Mission Specialist Jerry L. Ross and two display boards featuring the Indiana flag also flown on the mission.
